Q: Do I have to attend physically for any on-campus courses?
 
You study on your own pace and at your convenient time without interrupting your work or social life.
 
 
Q: Who are the targets of the programme?
 
A: The programme targets Egyptian educators and trainers working in the health professions education field or training in health field in general.
All Health Professions Education specialties like Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Nursing, and Health Sciences are eligible for admission.
 
 
Q: Will the words "Distance Learning" appear on the certificate?
 
A: "Distance Learning" does not show on the certificate by any means.
 
 
Q: How is my work assessed in the programme?
 
A: The assessment is through evaluation of the answered weekly assignment that done at home and sent on distance basis. Each assignment is evaluated by 10 marks for outstanding performance and below 6 marks indicates insufficiency of the assignment and the need to redo and resubmission.
 
 
  Q: What is the deadline for submitting the achieved assignments?
 
A: The deadline for submitting the assignments is the end of each Educational Unit.
 
 
Q: what are the Admission requirements?
 
In order to fulfill the registration requirements in the DHPE the following documents are necessary:
1.     Filled out DHPE Application Form  
3.     A recent colored personal photograph.
4.     Copy of the Bachelor Degree certificate, or higher (Master or PhD).
 
First; electronic (scanned) copies of the above mentioned documents (in a readable format; e.g. .jpg) should be sent by the e-mail to facilitate initial registration and accessibility to the blackboard and the electronic library.
 
Then, the originals of these documents should be sent by regular mail to the following mailing address:

  Q: How long the application Process might take?
 
Few days; as upon receiving the registration fees, the copies of the documents and the filled out application form, fellows receives a user name and password as well as the package of DHPE books.
 
 
  Q: Is a research thesis needed as part of the Diploma programme?
 
A: No full research thesis is required, but mini-research assignments are required in some units.
 
 
Q: How much is the registration fee?
 
A: Regarding the registration fee, it is 1,000 $, which can be paid either as one payment or in two or three installment payments. The equivalence of this amount of money in Egyptian pounds currency is accepted.
The total amount or installments can be sent as transfer to the DHPE bank account registration fee or directly to the DHPE accountant at SCU. 
Upon receipt of the money or the transfer document, as a scanned copy through email or Faxed, the package of DHPE books will be shipped to be in hand a few days.
 
 
Q: Is there an annual starting date for the programme?
 
A: No. You can enter the programme from any point in the 7 Units cycle to end at the same point in the next year. That takes at least one year and at most three years to graduate.
 
 
Q: Is it recognized by Ministry of higher Education in Egypt?
 
The DHPE is recognized by the committee of medical sector of the supreme council of universities. Upon graduation, gradutes will recive the original certificate which is signed by Suez Canal officials as well as a mark sheet that is signed and stamped by the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Equalization of the degree/certificate with a similar one in any country outide Egypt is the responsibility of the degree holder. He/she has to apply his documents, on individual basis, to the country authorities to be equalized.
The DHPE is a WHO sponsored and recognized by the Regional Office of the WHO (EMRO).
 
 Q: How is my work in the diploma program evaluated?

Rules for evaluation of DHPE assignments
 
  1. Each received assignment on time is evaluated out of 10.
  2. Each re-submitted assignment is evaluated with a maximum of 6 (pass mark). Fellows have the right to re-submit twice after the first failed assignment.
  3. Submission of all assignments and getting a total score of at least 6/10 in each block, with a grade of at least 3/10 in each assignment, is a pre-requisite for graduation, provided that all assignments are submitted.
  4. Group work: re-shuffling of the groups takes place every 2 Units. Those who wish to work and submit their assignments on individual basis are allowed, as far as they notify the management team before the beginning of either the Program or one specific Unit.
